Guest Speaker: Mandy Lawrence
Mandy Lawrence (Amy Horn's daughter) is a wife and dog-lover who is passionate about the Good News of the Gospel. She has been a registered nurse for over 16 years, but she now devotes her time to sharing God’s message of love and hope through writing and speaking. Mandy lives in North Carolina with her husband, Shane, and their dachshund, Wilbur. She wants her readers to “know the love of Christ which passes knowledge” and to “be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19, NKJV).
Books by Mandy Lawrence:
Wisdom From Wilbur: How My DOG Has Brought Me Closer to GOD More than two-thirds of American homes have a pet as a member of the family, and in over half these homes, at least one of those pets is a dog. The old saying, “a dog is a man’s best friend,” has never been more true. Many hearts and souls are warmed by the unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship of dogs.
Mandy’s dachshund, Wilbur, has brought much love and joy into her life, and he has managed to teach her some valuable lessons as well. Mandy’s relationship with Wilbur has given her deeper insight into her relationship with God, and she has drawn many interesting parallels between the two.
These insightful analogies have strengthened Mandy’s faith, and her walk with Christ has grown deeper as a result. Since the tragic loss of her 11-year-old cousin and godchild, Mandy’s faith has been more important to her than ever before. She hopes her message will comfort those who have experienced similar losses and encourage readers in their spiritual journeys.
"The stories and biblical insights within this book will have you looking at your relationship with God from a surprisingly new point of view. Find a comfortable chair and invite a furry friend to join you as Mandy shares what her relationship with Wilbur has taught her about God’s amazing love for us!"
Replay In her first work of fiction, Mandy Lawrence, author of five star-rated Wisdom From Wilbur, takes readers on an unforgettable journey into the bittersweet love story of Derek and Abby Holder, a couple caught up in the exciting world of professional football.
Marrying Carolina Panthers wide receiver, Derek Holder, fulfilled Abby’s greatest wish. Their wedding and Italian honeymoon were every bit the fairytale she dreamed they would be. But reality soon hits and takes its toll on the celebrity couple.
Abby’s glamorous life begins to unravel when her father is diagnosed with cancer. Faced with the possibility of losing her dad, she lives with the regret of time lost when she was estranged from her family during her college days. Depression sets in, which Abby blames for the distance that has crept into her marriage. Meanwhile, Derek lives with his own regrets, which come back to haunt him both on and off the field. Determined to prove himself to the father who belittled and abandoned him as a child, Derek cannot let the debilitating anxiety and guilt in his personal life—or his chronic knee condition—keep him from succeeding in the NFL.
As the couple’s marriage spirals out of control, their lives become as empty and trashed as a postgame stadium. But Abby’s faithful family knows God can heal not only their marriage but Derek and Abby, too, if only they will trust Him.
Can Super Bowl-sized dreams still come true? It will take nothing short of a miracle…
