Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16
On April 23rd the Administrative Council of First UMC unanimously voted for our church to become a Lighthouse Congregation in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church!
What does it mean to be a Lighthouse Congregation?
Lighthouse Congregations provide a welcoming place for people to belong during a time of grief and transition due to church disaffiliation or closure. Whether for a season or a lifetime, Lighthouse Congregations offer people who want to remain United Methodist caring relationships, meaningful worship, discipleship opportunities and pastoral care. We offer a safe place for those who are seeking a new church home or who are simply wondering what comes next.
These three short sentences sum up what being a Lighthouse Congregation is all about:
We love you. We care about you. We're here for you.
We offer a grace-filled welcome to all who come through our doors!
