Spiritual Formation Studies for Fall
This fall you will have three different studies to choose from:
Six Week Bible Study on Jesus’ Parables
This short-term Bible study will be led by Jack Tookey on Tuesdays at 7:00pm beginning September 2nd. Jack and his wife Jacqueline are both retired UM clergy who have chosen to join the life of our congregation and are already sharing their gifts of music, preaching, and worship leader-ship. Jack’s discussion-based study will use the Lifeguides study materials and will begin with the foundational Parable of the Sower from Matthew 13. Weekly preparation will enhance class discussion and ease you into the rhythm of regular Bible study.
Companions in Christ Small Group Experience
Companions in Christ is a 28-week experience in spiritual formation meant to further develop our lives as followers and disciples of Jesus Christ. Along the way we will practice different spiritual disciplines as we ponder the Way of Christ, the Mind of Christ, the Heart of Christ, the Work of Christ, and the Spirit of Christ, culminating with an overnight retreat at a local spiritual retreat center. Pastor Cheryl will lead this group on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. beginning September 9th. The cost for a participant’s book is $15.
Short-Term Bible Study on the Fruit of the Spirit
Another gifted retired UM minister, Norman Hubbard, will lead a study he developed to explore the Fruit of the Holy Spirit found in Galatians chapter five. He will lead this five-week study beginning September 29 on Monday mornings at 10:00 a.m. Please bring a Bible and notebook or paper for notes--the Bible will be the text. He and his wife Susie have become an integral part of our congregation and we are so blessed to have them at FUMC!
